Another thing I hated in Season 2 is how often and explicity they call Vander "father". Sometimes it's more powerful to leave things unsaid, especially when they are perfectly understandable already. We know already that Vander (and Silco) were surrogate fathers to Vi and Jinx. You don't have to beat us over the head with it by having them call him father every time and even DAD💀

They did it very sparingly in Season 1 ("he's our father too" and "you're my daughter, I'll never forsake you"). The rest of the time it's left unsaid and packs much more of a punch because of it! Vi and Jinx also never directly refer to the men as "dad" or "father", they only ever call them their names. It's just another way that Season 1 was much more mature than Season 2. It had restraint that Season 2 didn't.

i know im supremely late to the party but what the fuck do you mean we would have had an explanation behind the little piano melody Wylan plays in episode three. you mean to tell me that there would have been a wylan centric episode. that we wouldve had matthias calling wylan a lamb. we wouldve had jesper getting jealous and confessing his love. we wouldve had a goddamn backstory to his piano tune. and netflix fucking cancelled it? im so pissed im gonna go bite something

It has been literal hours since we got the casting announcement (btw she looks great i cant wait to see her as sophie) and theres people ALREADY COMPLAINING AND SOMEHOW BEING BOTH RACIST AND HOMOPHOBIC AT THE SAME TIME OH MY FUCKING GOD

Are these people dumb? Genuine question. Bridgerton as a whole, the concept itself, revolves around creating a fictional story with a more diverse casting, that includes sexuality, race, etc. That whole thing somehow flies over everybodys head and every time we get the same complains. I BEG people to comprehend that even if you whine and beg and cry about it, the show and the book are 2 very different things that can coexist. You dont want acurracy to the book, you just want to put yourself in the role of the female lead and cannot do that if it is a woman of color or a man. The books are made for that, whatever, if you want to read it, go for it i wont stop you. But the tv show is better than the books (dont even try to contradict me) and gives the women more character and agency. It just so happens that kate is indian it just so happens that sophie is asian, it so happens that micaela is black and a woman. It doesnt fundamentally change the course of the story or the outcome of the character.

Sending all the support to the actress, im sure she will do great.

there are very few dramas that burrow their way so deep into my heart that they become a part of my soul, my conscience - don't get me wrong, i like/love A LOT of dramas (im a serial liker/lover you can say) - but with some dramas, it's like I have a perpetual hangover. Kinda like "the one - kdrama version" (assume the one to be a group with a small number of elements) (sorry my stem ass is showing) (also sorry for the endless brackets, my adhd is also showing)

Anyway, the point is i am pretty sure that Love Next Door is on the verge of joining this set already inhabited by Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, Misaeng and My Mister.

lucy carlyle is the type of girl to describe an insane medical phenomenon she experiences on a daily basis and look at george and lockwood's shocked expressions and go "wait that's not normal?"

before Arcane S2 I always wondered why Vi and Powder went with Vander so easily after their parents died and why Powder ran to Silco for comfort after the warehouse fire.

Vander and Silco knew Felicia and Connol. hell, Vander named Vi! in all likelihood, Vander and Silco were like uncles to Vi and Powder in their early childhood, because they were close friends with their parents and worked the same profession. it wouldn’t surprise me at all if the four adults staggered their shifts in the mines to make sure someone was there to watch the girls at any given time. also, I don’t think Vander and Silco had their falling-out until soon before or during the rebellion that killed Felicia and Connol. in fact, I would hazard a guess that the reason Vander is wandering around post-battle pummeling the remaining Enforcers and looking for the dead is because he missed a good chunk of the fight while he was down in the river trying to strangle Silco.

the key piece of information here is that Vander and Silco were still friends and probably still in Vi and Powder’s lives right up until it all went wrong. when Vander took Vi and Powder in, he wasn’t adopting two kids he’d found randomly out of some sense of guilt or pity - those were his best friends’ kids. they approached him as a safe person even after seeing him beat some random guy because they knew him. when Powder saw Silco after Vander’s death and launched herself at him for a hug, she didn’t do that because he was the closest nearby person. she remembered him, even after however many years spent with Vander instead of her parents. his hesitation before he hugged her back was likely due to the time that had passed and his tension with Vander, not a lack of recognition.

TLDR: Vi and Powder don’t approach Vander and Silco as father figures because they’re the closest people at the times they need support, but because Vander and Silco were their parents’ best friends and they knew them already from childhood.

after episode 12, i coudn't stop thinking about this quote that fits so perfectly with seunghyo's dialogue: "i have always been with you."

in more ways than one, that meant that seokryu had never left his mind, and some part of him. she is so finely tied around the strings of fate that circle him that it wasn't shocking that he fell for her again--he was just shocked that he still liked her after keeping his heart so guarded for years. from spilling paint all over him, playing house, overcoming her fears of the water, overcoming depression, caring for him when he felt abandoned, helping him study, supporting him when no one else bothered to do so, building his first project for her, going to US for her, redecorating her house in a way that no one else could've possibly done, eating teobokki at her father's shop, sharing textbooks together, bringing her back when she ran away from home, reaching out to him when she was at her lowest, ignoring her when he felt like he was alone in feeling those feelings...they've been through so much together.

its no wonder that nobody could ever replace the other, even after they dated other people. seokryu is a muse, an altar, and a memorial in his heart. seunghyo is the wind in her hair, her banana milk, her human diary. they're each other's fundamentals.

hate to say it-- kinda love how this season was shot...

the interviews being shot like that is so incredibly funny, the jj breakdown scene/longshot is literally a cinematic masterpiece, hate to say it but the surrealism of the nighttime scenes being so badly set during "night" is kinda iconic to me, some of the hand-held moments, the zoomes-

this season is kinda fucked up (cough cough. *stares*) but tbh.... its definitely not my least favorite
